I have loved art every since I was a small child. When I retired from teaching in 2010, it was time to pursue art for myself. I took a variety of classes at the La Grange and Dupage Art Leagues.
When I found pastels, I knew I had found my medium. Pastels feel good in my hand. The colors are vibrant and they glide onto my paper instantly. If I make a mistake, it can be corrected.
I have studied with Tony Crnkovich, Randie Le Van, Richard McKinley, Desmond O’Hagan, Julie Skoda, William Snyder, Sally Strand, Nina Weiss, Kay Wahlgren and Gary Wick.
In 2017, I have been lucky enough to attend the IAPS Convention in Albuquerque. I also took a Richard McKinley Workshop. In September, I saw him give glowing individual critiques for every artist that won their place in the Pastel Society of America Show in NYC. It is no wonder he is so respected among artists around the world.
I am a member of CPP, IAPs and the Near West Art Collective. I have won awards in Chicago Pastel Painters Shows and in local shows. I had a one woman show in 2015.
