Art has been my passion since I was in high school. I wanted an art careerr but got talked out of it… I became an elementary school teacher, who did lots of art with my students.

When I retired in 2010, it was my turn to study art. I took classes in different mediums. When I found pastels, I was hooked! Pastels feel good in my hand. The colors are vibrant and they glide onto my paper instantly. If I make a mistake, it can be easily corrected. I love to experiment with textures, underpainting techniques and different papers and boards.

I have studied a variety of different mediums with Andrew Conklin, Tony Crnkovich, Charlotte Cziperle, Randie Le Van, Richard McKinley, Desmond O’Hagan, Julie Skoda, William Snyder, Sally Strand, Jim Swanson, Michael Van Zeyl, Nina Weiss, Kay Wahlgren and Gary Wick. I also go to museums around the country to study the masters and to galleries and art fairs to study current work.

In 2017, I attended the IAPS Convention in Albuquerque and the Pastel Society of America Show in NYC. I was so sorry to miss this year’s events… Next time!

I am a member of CPP, IAPs, the La Grange and Du Page Art Leagues and the Near West Art Collective. I have won awards in Chicago Pastel Painters Shows and in local shows. I had a one woman show in 2015 and am working toward another in the future.
